Insurance, Life & Disability

My BusinessProfessional Benefits with a specialty of life and disability insurance

Ideal ReferralA seasoned or new professional. A business owner trying to plan their succession strategy. A professional that has a continuing financial obligation to their bank, partner, or spouse if they were unable to work due to illness or injury. A young professional who doesn't want to depend on their employers coverage so that they are free to chart their own path.

Top ProductSupplemental individual disability insurance (layers on top of any group coverage the employer might be providing but calls short due to caps)

Top Problem SolvedGroup disability is great and should definitely be considered a benefit. However, they often times have monthly caps (ex: 60% of base salary to a max of $5,000/month) If the employer pays the premium then the $5000 is also taxable. Depending on the tax bracket the professional would be forced to live on 30-40% of their income if they couldn't work. Plus they would lose out on their retirement plan (401k) contributions for when they turn 66/67. Supplemental disability insurance would help supplement the lost income bringing you up to 70% of your income covered tax free.

My Ideal Referral PartnerEstate Planning, general business, or tax attorney. Banker who wants the loan insured for both life and disability risk.
